What to Expect at Your First Naturopathic Doctor Visit

The Center for Generative Medicine combines compassionate care with holistic medicine.

Your journey as a Center for Generative Medicine patient, whether virtual or in-person, begins with a New Patient Visit. We’re here to help from initial questions and scheduling to testing and follow-up care.

Getting Started

Upon contacting our practice, our Office Administrator, Gianna, will walk you through an orientation, which includes a detailed description of services, fees, and the process timeline.

When a New Patient Visit is scheduled, you’ll be sent an invitation to join our portal. There, you’ll find a few important documents to sign, including a Consent to Treatment, Notice of Privacy Practices, and a Financial Agreement. You’ll also be sent a New Patient Questionnaire, which will ask about your concerns, goals, questions, and health history.

One week before your initial visit, and all future return visits, you’ll receive a call from Gianna to confirm your visit.

First Visit

On the day of your appointment, if in person, you’ll arrive at our office and be greeted by Gianna. During your appointment, your naturopathic physician will walk with you through your comprehensive health history. They’ll assess your current complaints and goals, develop a strategy for best identifying any underlying causality, and plan how to best address this.

At this visit, your naturopathic doctor will also develop a checklist of important metrics to be collected and you will be sent collection kits for any relevant precision lifestyle testing (biomarkers, metabolism, genomics, microbiome) that will need to be performed.

A very similar structure exists for telemedicine video consults. On the day of the visit, you’ll receive a Zoom link from our portal. You’ll log in, be greeted by your doctor, and begin your appointment. We’ll review your health history, goals, and relevant documents, just as we would in person.

Testing + Plan

Once testing and analytics are complete, we schedule a follow-up with your clinician to review the results and discuss findings and any questions you may have. Your doctor will then prepare your recommendations, personalized dietary guidelines, and lifestyle advice that is personalized to your specific needs.

Follow-Up

In 3 months, you’ll meet for a Progress Check to check in, interpret follow-up laboratory work, and tweak your plan if necessary. From then on, visits can be as frequent or as infrequent as you’d like. Many of our patients appreciate the accountability that regular 3-month visits can offer. Others prefer to visit every year.

Extras

We also offer specialty analytics that you may add to your care at any point in your journey with us. Please note that after two years without a visit, you will have to return as a new patient, as your health will best be addressed with a full re-establishment intake.
